Description:
Who we are:
JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI), a leading public health research and consulting organization dedicated to advancing the health of individuals and communities, is seeking an experienced senior consultant to join our energetic and collaborative Health Services Division (HSD) team. This position will be responsible for providing leadership, project management, partnership building, client relationship, and technical assistance for health care transformation related projects within the United States, both at a state and national level.
How we work:
We pride ourselves on being a workplace where people from a wide variety of lived experiences have the freedom to pursue their passions and take an active part in shaping the future of our work. We have a bias toward action: we do research with the explicit intent of influencing policy change and changes in practice. We understand that in order to advance equitable and effective strategies, the public health and health care fields need to be driven by affected populations. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team that reflects the diversity of our communities and that can apply their own lived-experiences.
Our office culture is strong—we care about each other as coworkers and as individuals and strive to extend flexibility to staff so that they can manage life, while still meeting the demands of the job. We are currently working in a hybrid environment, where we strive to balance in-person and remote working to meet personal needs as well as create a collaborative environment where we learn from one another and support each other’s success.
About the role:
We are hiring a full-time Senior Consultant to join our U.S. team who is a creative problem solver, able to quickly pivot in changing environments, and committed to advancing innovative approaches to improving population health; lead national and/or state projects related to health care transformation; provide technical assistance and training in specific areas related to this content area; form strong partnerships with funders, government agencies, community health centers and other organizations, as well as technical experts; lead collaboratives; conduct business development; and, be a strong communicator. JSI’s HSD has hundreds of consultants across 8 offices that work across local, regional and national projects simultaneously with a high-level of individual accountability. We strive to balance rigorous approaches with timely and imaginative implementation.
JSI health care transformation projects span a wide variety of topics including primary care/practice transformation, strategies to advance health and racial equity including addressing social determinants of health, multisector approaches to advancing population health, policy and payment reform, applied research to build the evidence-base for emerging areas in public health, and health information technology. This work typically requires extensive experience with and understanding of project management methodologies, multi-stakeholder engagement, community and provider engagement, planning and facilitation skills, strategic planning, and reporting and dissemination. This work also requires technical expertise and knowledge of the full continuum of clinical and non-clinical health-related services (e.g., public health, social service, community health, primary care, behavioral health, hospital, post-acute, etc.) as well as the structures, systems, and processes that promote service integration, care coordination, care transitions, workforce development, and health information exchange. Finally, this work requires an understanding and appreciation for issues of equity and the disparities that exist for certain segments of the population who have been disproportionately impacted by social factors.
Responsibilities:
-Project management and leadership: Lead large projects and staff dynamically, adapting to tight and evolving timelines, including development and management of strategic and action plans; clear communication with many different audiences; and managing development and production of deliverables.
-Development of deliverables: Working as a key member of a collaborative team, develop project deliverables including tools and resources to health care transformation best practices; and lead in-person and web-based convenings and presentations.
